Dining choices on our island are many and varied and very good. (Prices are generally higher than the mainland--"price of paradise" surcharge ? We recommend reservations early if coming during our "high season" and looking at their schedules closely if coming during our "quiet season" (opening hours can be irregular). Since our cottages all have small but efficient kitchens with everything you need to prepare a meal, you will be glad to know that we have a. A large locally owned supermarket; b) a healthy organic co-op; c) a smaller but wonderful market the ferry landing where the owner (one of the best cooks on island) prepares daily take home and warm meals and the best sandwiches ever (half the cost of eating out!) and, in season, d) a great farmer's market. A new addition -- a Salvadoran food truck parked in Eastsound.
While all our cottages have WI-FI coverage and guests can enjoy streaming services and news on line, our cottages do not subscribe to t.v. services. We recommend watching our "nature channel" (our windows--all cottages have amazing views). However, we do recommend checking out the schedule at our Orcas Center for local productions, Chamber Music Festival (if lucky enough to be here during this Festival, we advise getting tickets early--this is a treat); and Film Festivals as well as a multitude of other entertainment. Tickets are really reasonable and all seats (because the theatre is small) is (almost) front row.
If you are hikers; check out our favorite hikes. Do them all or if limited for time, our recommendations: Mountain Lake Hike (Moran State Park), Turtleback Mountain (southern trail) Preservation Trust.(br>

Of course, whales and sailing. We recommend Deer Harbor Charters because they have the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic naturalists.
We look forward to your Dream Cottage visit.
